The Modern Jazz Quartet

Formado em 1952 por Milt Jackson (vibrafone), John Lewis (piano, diretor musical), Percy Heath (contrabaixo) e Kenny Clarke (bateria). Em 1955 Connie Kay substituiu Clarke. O grupo explorou diversos estilos de jazz incluindo bebop, cool jazz e third stream.
